Professional Development

Professional development is available at three levels. Although ongoing PD is not a formal requirement of the Institute, education is one of the primary objectives and many activities are directed this way.

Functions

Are the first level of Personal Development. Guest Speakers update members knowledge of methods and practice in the industry.

Training

The second level of PD involves formal education through courses such as the Institutes distance education Certificate or Diploma courses. IFS delivers three nationally recognised qualifications which are endorsed by the National Finance Industry Training Advisory Body (NFITAB.)

The courses are as follows:

A 2 year Diploma in Financial Services with an exit point after the first year which entitles students to a Certificate IV in Financial Services (1year) as well as the Certificate III in Financial Services (Traineeship) (1 year.)

These courses re specifically designed for people who are new to the retail financial services industry and those without tertiary qualifications.

Modules can be undertaken as individual units of study for those who are interested in a particular subject area. At the conclusion of an individual module students will be issued with a Certificate of Achievement.

Course handbooks with enrolment dates for the correspondence courses are available from the WA Secretary at GPO Box 203 MELVILLE WA 6956 or from the National Secretariat at Level 1, 13-15 Wentworth Avenue East Sydney NSW 2010.
